...Just read an article p30 in the "OLDER & BOULDER Lifestyle Magazine for the 50+ May/June 2012 issue, (from the foyer of the Johnsonville Community Centre).
Titled " A warning against complacency" by Dr. Nick Page BVSc, Rolleston Veterinary Services Ltd.
About a 4 yr old spayed Black Lab who succumbed to Distemper... concludes ..."The lesson to be learnt here is not to be complacent about infectious disease, even if it hasn't been seen for some years. ....the importance of maintaining immunity via vaccination boosters in your dogs and cats at a frequency as advised and determined by your Veterinarian. Such a simple procedure can indeed be life-saving for an indvidual and aids to overall immunity in a population, thus being a preventative in establishment of an epidemic situation. I would urge all pet owners to ensure vaccination status is up to date....
